DISCOVER YOUR INNER MEDICINE
What's in a name - Gathering Qi (Zong Qi)?
In Chinese medicine, Gathering Qi (Zong Qi) is one form of Qi (vital force) in the body. Gathering Qi assists the lungs in controlling Qi and respiration and the heart's function of governing the blood and blood vessels, which are responsible for many important functions in the body.
The strength of Gathering Qi can be determined from the health of the heart, lungs, and the circulation and voice. The lungs are vital in respiration and can be easily damaged by the emotions, such as excessive grief and sadness. Gathering Qi assists the lungs in breathwork to help alleviate health issues, such as stress and anxiety. Yoga, Gigong, Nei Gong, Tai Chi, and meditation practitioners all know the importance of Gathering Qi in cleansing the body of toxins and deepening their practice of connecting and healing the mind, body, and spirit.
According to The World Health Organisation (WHO) definition:
"Health is a state of complete physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
